GPS schools have competed in an annual Rugby Premiership since 1918, initially playing Rugby League until 1928, when the schools began playing Rugby Union.

1918	GPS Rugby Commenced with Ipswich Grammar School winning their first Premiership.
1920	QLD Rugby Union Folded, and Rugby League was then played in all Queensland schools and the university colleges.
1920	St Joseph's Nudgee College wins their first Premiership (Rugby League)
1922	The Southport School win their first Premiership (Rugby League)
1924	Toowoomba Grammar School win their first Premiership (Rugby League)
1927	St Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace win their first Premiership (Rugby League)
1929	QLD Rugby Union reformed, reverting the GPS Competition back to Rugby Union, where St Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace win their first true Rugby Premiership.
1930	Toowoomba Grammar School win their first true Rugby Premiership
1931	St Joseph's Nudgee College win their first true Rugby Premiership
1933	The Southport School win their first true Rugby Premiership
1939	Church of England Grammar School win their first Rugby Premiership
1941 - 1945	No competition due to World War II
1947	Brisbane State High School win their first Rugby Premiership
1954	Brisbane Boys' College win their first Rugby Premiership in a four way tie with TGS, NC, ACGS
1956	Brisbane Grammar School win their first Rugby Premiership in a three way tie with TGS, and GT, Gregory Terrace winning their first true Rugby Premiership.
1958	Brisbane Grammar School win their first stand-alone Rugby Premiership
2020	Brisbane Boys' College win their first stand-alone Rugby Premiership in a truncated year due to the International Health Pandemic (COVID-19), resulting in school closures in term 2, social distancing, no sport being played and movement of all term 2 sport and activities into term 3.
2021	No Premiership awarded due to COVID-19 shutdown of QLD Schools for three rounds of competition.

GPS Rugby Results History

The GPS Association Working Group, established to review and act on the Rugby Review Report into the serious spinal injuries experienced by four boys during 2018, has released its response to the report’s recommendations. The Working Group’s highest priority is to ensure changes are made that improve player care and safety.
